Hi, I’m Scott, owner of Upsher and engineer for many years. I established the company in 2016 after deciding to ‘break away’ from a my career as Regional Quality Manager for one of the ‘Big Six’ energy firms.
My years of working for them – first as an apprentice, then as an engineer before eventually going on to oversee the quality of work across the whole of South London – gave me a world of insight into how things could be done better.
Setting up on my own, I wanted to eliminate the frustrations I know many people experience when calling on help from a ‘household name’ energy provider…
Days spent waiting for an appointment confirmation, only to be given a vague six hour time slot during which you wait patiently for a knock on the door. Your life on hold until the work is done and an impersonal engineer hands over an eye-watering bill – never to be seen again!
On the flip side, I was determined to avoid the negative perceptions some have of independent tradespeople (usually based on experience, too!).
You’ll discover how Upsher does things differently as you explore the site, but being named a finalist in Britain’s Top Tradesperson 2017 by Screwfix and shortlisted in the Heating & Ventilation Awards 2018 as Domestic Heating Contractor of the Year hopefully speaks for itself.
Accolades aside, it’s safe to say I’m not a one-man-band: I couldn’t be where I am today without the continued support of the other wonderful people on this page.

“Boiler and tap were easy. Our toilet is/was a bit of a nuisance to us all (I don't like the system anyway)! A corroded part was taken away to be matched and replaced - only to find there was another part of the flushing system that needed replacing. So poor Scott had to find another part and return. Very happy with the result. Have had Scott here before and always happy with his honesty and expertise - and ability to fix difficult things!”
